No place hops like Sonic

Most of my family is presently enroute to Utah. They're headed to family reunion. I love family reunion, and I'm a little bummed that I can't be there this year. On top of that, I'm a little lonely because Marty has been visiting his family this week. He comes home tomorrow.

But this post is not going to be about me feeling sorry for myself.

Tonight I got a phone call. My caller ID said it was from my sister Daisy. But when I answered the phone I quickly knew that it was not Daisy I was talking to. My nephew Sam was on the phone (being coached to say "hi"). Before too long he needed no coaching and was babbling away. I'm not really sure all of what he said. I caught the words Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa, but he said much more than that. I may have accidentally agreed to give him a '65 Mustang convertible for his 16th birthday. If so, I hope he forgets that piece of information sometime in the next 14 years.

There were a couple of times in the conversation when I heard people in the background asking if they could talk on the phone. No deal. Then the line went dead. I got a call back a few minutes later. Sam wasn't done with our conversation. So we talked about letters and numbers and Sam laughed and laughed.

Finally Dad was given the phone. He explained that they had talked about stopping at Sonic for dinner. I guess Sam got really excited at the mention of Sonic because he thought they were talking about me. And while they couldn't transport me out there to join them for dinner, they could let Sam give me a call.

Thanks Sam. You made my day.

Awww! That is so nice to hear! Glad Sam made you feel special! We're a bit bummed you won't be here this year too but we look forward to seeing you next month!
Harvey and Pooka and clan made it in to our house about 10 pm Utah time. They looked a little road weary and happy to find beds. Love you, dani

That's very sweet! I am sorry you have to miss reunion. I remember Boss telling me about them when we were in high school. They sounded like so much fun that I wanted to be an adopted Henrichsen! So I know you are disappointed and missing Marty on top of it. But how sweet of little Sam to call you! He loves you so much. Just the mention of your name got him all worked up! Or what he thought was your name.:o) Anyway, I wish I was there to keep you company and we could do our nails - and even go to Sonic and get a Blast!

We will all miss you at Reunion. Wish you could be there. If I babbled on the phone, and you promised me a 65 mustang for my birthday, would that make your day? Would you deliver on the car?

We can be long distance loner buddies, because I feel really left out of the reunion festivities too! Plus, I got a phone call from Sam last night too! Mostly I did the talking as he was pretty darn tired and Boss told me the strategy was for him to hold the phone until he went to sleep. I didn't quite make it that long, but it was fun to hear his voice.

This post made me all glad and homesick at the same time. Thanks.

Hi Sonnet. this is the besest place I know to update you on things. We got Sue all set into the MTC, and headed for the hills. A big storm came up, and Dad called Caroline and James and advised them not to try coming up tonight. The ranch staff said it is just too wet to be safe, especially after dark. tHE WEATHER PREDICTION FOR TOMORROW ISN'T THAT GOOD, EITHER. wE MISS YOU AND LOOVE YOU. mOM

That was so cute to read! I often think of Sonnet when we go to or talk about Sonic too. I can really relate to missing all the fun of reunion, but it is great to read updates.
