My ward has been going through some major reorganizing. A few weeks ago we got a new Relief Society presidency, today it was the Primary and Sunday School's turn. And with my bishop and his wife leaving on a mission in 60 days (but they're not counting!), we know that's coming soon too. Even though I just got a new calling (primary teacher for 8 and 9 year olds) when I was released from being librarian, I got reshuffled today too. I'm now the Relief Society secretary.
When I brought it to the attention of my primary class what the changes meant for them, I thought they might start a riot. And the outgoing presidency said that if they weren't released themselves, they'd be throwing punches. It's nice to feel wanted. And while I'm excited for my new calling, I'm sad to leave my valiant 9 kids.

Wow what an exciting day. New callings, new presidency and a riot. I know what you mean about leaving your class though. I've only been with my CTR 8 class a month but I think we've all grown quite attached. It sure is fun to teach primary. Relief Society will be fun too. You'll do a great job!
Why can't the outgoing p. presidency throw punches now that they're released? That seems like an even better time to do it. Just walk up to the bishop, punch him in the face, and say "what are you going to do, release me?" Maybe you should try it if they won't. You know, for the kids.
Aaron and I feel the same way about our "kids", so I understand. I'm sure the RS presidency is excited to have you too!
That is so sweet!
I am now teaching the 4 and 5 yr. olds on Sunday nights, a missions class. They are very sweet and I hope I get to teach them for a long time. Last week one of my kids came in with a new haircut. She and her sister are 10 and a half months apart, always dress the same, are very cute and sweet, and have long blonde hair that is always fixed the same. I figured that she had taken the scissors to her own hair, which prompted the sudden haircut (her sister still had her long, goldilocks hair). I asked if she had cut her hair and what her mommy said to her, and she said, "Mommy just sat in the floor and cried." Anyway, don't know why I wanted to share that story, but that it was about kids that I'm teaching and that it was cute! I hope you get to teach some cute kids again soon, and I am sure those 9-year-olds will love you still even though you are not their teacher anymore!
Peanut--I'll put in a word for the Rs Presidency...secrtary is a fantastic calling! You get to know all the sisters, help keep the president (and counselors) in line and organized and the best part...you don't have as many meetings! Seriously, I loved being the secretary, although it was hard to be called out of Primary to go back to the less energetic RS class. Good luck! And those kids will especially love it if you make an effort to keep in touch with them.
Boss is SOOOO funny! I can't get enough of that girl.
