Plus, he has a soft head and smells good.
When we went on vacation in mid-July he knew how to roll from back to front, but not from front to back. Almost as soon as we got home he figured it out. He was so delighted with himself that he'd roll over and follow it up with a big, cheerful shout.
In mid-July he also reached another big milestone--he slept through the night! He's done pretty well since then--sleeping through the night more nights than not. In the morning when he wakes up he makes happy baby noises in his crib or just sucks his thumb until I come get him.
George wasn't too thrilled when I first gave him rice cereal. He made this face with just about every bite. But he ate every bite he was offered.
He's gotten really good at holding his own bottle--especially the little 4 oz. ones. He's also gotten good at recognizing his bottles--and letting us know that he wants them. On vacation, Aunt Shana was holding him while I was eating lunch one day. He started getting more and more antsy for her until finally I noticed that it wasn't me that had his focus, he'd seen his bottle in the stroller and wanted it!
We had our suspicions early on that he might be a thumb-sucker, but it took him awhile to really get the hang of it. Mom saw this picture and said he's looking more and more like me. She pointed out that not only is he sucking his thumb, he's holding the blanket in a way that reminds her of me and my yarns.
Did I mention that he's happy? Would you look at those dimples! And maybe it's just coincidence, but he seems pretty good at waving hi too. When I took this picture, I was saying to him, "George, say 'hi, Mom!'"
